It's the most experimental movie I've ever seen. And it sucks. I mean really. It's just an absurd. Or, at least, a banter. If so, a great one.
I wonder if you can watch only one scene, where nothing's happening and nothing's changing for 8 hours. FOR 8 HOURS! Even though you see Empire State Building, it's almost impossible. Yes, there is a plane passin' by somewhere in the middle of the film. Oh, how pretty it is!
Warhol said that he likes when people can exit the film somwhere in the middle or to start watching it somewhere in the end. But personnaly I would never get a ticket to this 8-hour so-called "movie". Cause if I would exit somewhere in the middle, I would not see that lonely plane... But even it can't make Empire something more than just a night shaky NYC footage.
Even don't know if Warhol wanted to make an experiment or he just had an insomnia that night. But he really felt cool with his new Bolex, I think. And you will not feel so cool while watching it.
Warhol said that while watching you'll feel the time. Yes, you'll feel. You'll feel how you wasted it.
Вельмі, вельмі эксперыментальнае нешта. Увесь "фільм" -- эксперымент. Ці сьцёб. Ці абсурд. Так ці інакш, мне цікава, ці зможаце вы восем гадзін глядзець на адзін ракурс з сусьветна вядомым хмарачосам, дзе не адбываецца нічога, акрамя траскі камеры (ну так, там недзе на гадзіне чацьвёртай самалёт праляцеў). Уорхал казаў, што яму падабаецца, калі на чвэрці сеансу, напрыклад, глядач можа выйсьці куды-небудзь, пахадзіць пару гадзін і вярнуцца. Логіка зразумелая. Але я б на васьмігадзінны сеанс квіток не купіў бы. Бо калі б я выйшаў куды небудзь, я бы прапусьціў, напэўна, гэты самотны самалёцік, а безь яго прагляд ня мае сэнсу. Хоць неяк разбаўляе васьмігадзінную начную траску камеры.
Я ня ведаю, ці была ў Уорхала нейкая смага эксперыменту, ці проста бяссонніца. Так ці інакш, ён купіў сабе камеру і атрымаў канкрэтны кайф. Нажаль, падчас прагляду вы такога кайфу не атрымаеце. Хаця, можа быць, "вы зможаце адчуць час", Уорхал казаў, што зьняў гэты фільм для гэтага. Канечне вы яго адчуеце. Адчуеце, як вы яго забілі.
